Sunday Morning Small Groups
We kick things off together in The Point, then break into small groups led by awesome adult leaders who adult leaders who are prepared and ready to share with you from God's Word. Groups are split by grade and gender (7th–9th grade guys and girls, and 10th–12th grade guys and girls).
Sunday Night Discipleship
(During the school year.)
On Sunday night we have two discipleship opportunities that begin at 6:00pm.
DGroups – These are small, consistent groups that meet throughout the year. They’re focused on studying the Bible together and building real friendships with accountability. (These groups are closed once they begin.)
Foundations – This is an open group you can jump into anytime. It’s all about learning the basics of the Christian faith. We offer a junior high girls group as well as a general group that’s open to everyone.
Wednesday
Worship | 6:00PM
(During the school year)
MidWeek Worship
Midweek is all about community and worship. We hang out, play games, and spend time in student-led worship and Bible teaching that connects with real life. Then we break into groups to talk it through, ask questions, and figure out how to live it out with leaders who genuinely care about you.
What We're About
We take Walnut Street’s mission—to pray, make, equip, and go—and apply it to students. As a student ministry, we depend on God to do His work. Our role is to join Him in what He’s already doing, and to help students do the same in their everyday lives.
We believe the Great Commission calls us to actively make disciples by sharing Jesus with the world. That starts close to home with the friend across the lunch table, the person in second period, or a teammate on the field.
We join parents in equipping our students with not only the truth of God's Word, but how to think critically about the world around them.
We know we have just six years to invest in each student before they step into the next phase of life. Our prayer is that they leave grounded in who God created them to be, confident in what He has called them to do, and ready to live out their faith tangibly each day.
When you're part of Walnut Street Students, you are known, valued, and cared for. We pray it is a place where each student feels safe to be themselves while given the opportunity to make their faith their own.
For Parents
We know it can be a challenge to keep up with everything going on in your student’s world. We want to make that easier by giving you clear places to stay informed and find ways for both you and your student to get involved. Our goal at Walnut Street Students is to partner with you as you disciple your teenager.
One of the best ways to stay in the loop is by signing up for our Student Ministry Newsletter. Each week, we share what’s happening in the day-to-day life of our ministry, along with upcoming events you won’t want to miss. We also provide a seasonal calendar so you can see what’s coming up and plan ahead.

MEET
Cory Cartwright
STUDENT MINISTER
My name is Cory Cartwright and I have had the privilege of serving as youth pastor at Walnut Street since August 2018. Married to Krista and father to 4 kids (Ella, Evie, Finn, & Levi), we have a full and fun life together. Interests include-trying anything once, woodworking, coffee, Mississippi State sports, and podcasts.
One of my favorite verses is John 3:30. I can struggle with wanting to become more and more, but John reminds each of us that it is Jesus who should become greater and I need to know and relish in my role of becoming less and make it as easy as possible for people to see Christ.
"He must increase, but I must decrease."
John 3:30 NASB
